{"id":951,"date":"2016-10-31T20:54:38","date_gmt":"2016-10-31T20:54:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olioweb.me.uk\/wordpress_marcus\/?p=951"},"modified":"2024-08-19T15:57:17","modified_gmt":"2024-08-19T15:57:17","slug":"poem-of-the-month-november-2016-ballade-van-het-slagveld-in-mijn-slaapkaamer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.olioweb.me.uk\/marcus\/?p=951","title":{"rendered":"Poem of the Month, November 2016: Ballade van het Slagveld in mijn Slaapkaamer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BALLADE VAN HET SLAGVELD<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> IN MIJN SLAAPKAMER<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>O God!<br \/>\nI had a battle with an angel<br \/>\non my bed.<\/p>\n<p>It was very odd.<br \/>\nShe got hold of my grollies<br \/>\nand twisted them hard<br \/>\nlike Scotland Yard.<\/p>\n<p>She wouldn&#8217;t let go<br \/>\nof my life.<br \/>\nI thought of calling my wife<br \/>\nin the other room<br \/>\nto chase her away with a broom.<\/p>\n<p>My head was in a mess<br \/>\nand filled with gloom.<\/p>\n<p>I begged her to leave me alone<br \/>\nbut my begging fell like a stone<br \/>\ninto a deep dark lake.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;You have made a mistake,&#8217; she said<br \/>\nin the middle of my bed<br \/>\nin her flimsy cotton dress,<br \/>\n&#8216;and now you&#8217;re going to pay.<br \/>\nNo paninis for you today.<br \/>\nSTAY AWAY.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>I lost that fearful fight<br \/>\nat the end of a sleepless night,<br \/>\nand collapsed on my back,<br \/>\nthe victim of her attack.<br \/>\nThat was the end of it all &#8211;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BALLADE VAN HET SLAGVELD IN MIJN SLAAPKAMER O God!
