POEM OF THE MONTH<\/strong>
\n‘Let’s Play Marbles’<\/p>\n

We live in the Pain World
\nand try to have fun
\nin our little way,
\ndon’t we?<\/p>\n

ADAPT! is the new key word
\nas I turn 80
\nand start to dodder.<\/p>\n

Student bar-girls,
\nwee poems
\nwho’ve never read a poem,
\ngawp at my pins –
\nYou’re the reason I’m happy.<\/p>\n

Big or small,
\nblue, green or indifferent,
\nI FRAME my thoughts in poems.
\nI.m. Dirk De Brouwer.<\/p>\n

Nature also works
\nwith secrets – dark powers
\nthat cannot be explained.<\/p>\n

The love of angels
\nresembles that of children.
\nIt knows no limits.<\/p>\n

Hugo, I got your healing
\nlove message from Prague.
\nIt made a huge difference.<\/p>\n

Rome was not built
\nin a day, yet it vanished
\novernight.<\/p>\n

When I look at her
\nall I see is a field
\nof spring flowers.
\nAnd TEA.<\/p>\n

Tap in to the Power
\nthat is Yours. Reach down
\ninto your own deep roots.<\/p>\n

Must I really use my BRAINS
\nto decide if I’m going to kiss you?
\nIsn’t common sense enough?<\/p>\n

Some half-starved chicks
\nlook at me as if
\nthey’d never seen a man before.<\/p>\n

I drink to Veerle and her girlfriend
\non their ONE free day in the year.<\/p>\n

‘To love’ and ‘to be in love’
\nare options for normal, sensible folk.
\nBeyond that is obsession –
\nand punishment with Blindness.<\/p>\n

Here comes the ambulance –
\nto the very heart
\nof our peaceful garden.<\/p>\n

Cool session with Gals.
\n‘Stick your chest out!’
\nELS tells me.
\n‘He hasn’t got one,’
\nSELENA quickly answers.<\/p>\n

What YOU know
\nto be true for yourself
\nis what matters. Follow it!
\nEspecially if it works.<\/p>\n

Step by step through the day,
\nunhurried, untouched,
\nI pat the empty wine-cask of my belly.<\/p>\n

The unanswered and the unsung
\nare the grandparents of Ignorance.<\/p>\n

\ngoes up, her husband down.
\nHe’s reading RICHIE!<\/p>\n

Had a tasty big round
\nalmond biscuit, to make up
\nfor the ca-ca.<\/p>\n

DIRK must have died
\nfor some reason. You can see
\nfrom the photo he’s pleased.<\/p>\n

I’d better say a few nembutsus
\nbefore my luck runs out completely.<\/p>\n
