Archaeological Facial Reconstruction Archaeological reconstructions bring our ancestors to life and raise history to a more human level; they are enormously popular with the public and unlike Martins forensic work are often given skin tone and real hair etc. that replicate the style of the period. A cast is taken of the skull and the face is then built up using soft tissue data sets that correspond to the sex, age and ethnic origin of the subject. Martin has developed a new way of casting delicate archaeological or damaged skulls using an epoxy mask . This is non-invasive and causes no damage to the skull. The technique is quick and cost effective, making three dimensional models affordable for museums, archaeology groups and for forensic use.
